Program Mission

Every Person Is Worth the Investment

WORTH IT is not a traditional violence prevention program. It is a direct economic and life-skills investment in the individuals most likely to be involved in gun violence — either as perpetrators or victims. By compensating participants for their time and engagement, WORTH IT removes the economic barrier that keeps high-risk individuals from participating in intervention programs.

The program is built on a simple but radical premise: if we want people to choose a different path, we have to make that path economically viable. A minimum of $20/hr is not charity — it is a strategic investment in public safety with a measurable return.

"We are not asking people to change for free. We are paying them to invest in their own lives — because that investment pays dividends for the entire city."

— Shawn Moore Sr., Founder, MRSG
